A major part of our personal growth is how we approach our own self development and much more importantly, setting goals for self development. It has been said that your income will only grow as much as your own personal development. Because of the overwhelming evidence in support of this, there is no question that this in fact is true. You become in five years the books you read today.
It is not enough to hope and wish to become that successful person. You need to educate yourself and grow as a person. I do not mean the type of education you learnt at school, I mean real life skills; the skills you can only learn from people that came before you. The ones that took the hard knocks and learnt from their mistakes. These are people who left a legacy for all of us to discover.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Can you recall reading or hearing that statement? If you have the aptitude and good sense to educate yourself, then the knowledge is yours to seek. Every subject that you need to know and educate yourself about, has been written about. Your local library is full of this incredible knowledge and to gain it is truly to have power, but only if you begin to use it.
By setting goals for self development, you are putting in place your own educational process. If you do not feel reading books is your forte, then there are plenty of audio and video programs that are inexpensive or even free at your local library and over the internet. Some of the greatest teachers, past and present, that are synonymous with a wide range of personal and professional growth are Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Earl Nightingale, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Denis Waitley, Robert Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins and that is just to name a few.
Just Google a few of these names and you will begin to see the wealth of information and knowledge before your very eyes. It will cover a full array of personal growth from your attitude to success, right up to a comprehensive time management plan that is suited for you. Your self development will be put on a course that if followed, will be bountiful in all aspects of your life.
Try to set a goal of reading a chapter a day from any book which covers a part of your life you want and need to improve. On average that will be one book read every two weeks and you can even take the weekend off. Two books a month and twenty four books read every year. Do you see how this setting goals for self development really works? The knowledge you attain and I hope what you will practice will give you and your family abundance in spades.
